Bigton Singers

Singing is good for

the soul!

We are an informal friendly community singing group for anybody who likes singing - no experience necessary.

Our ethos is that singing is for everyone. We aim to learn a mix of styles at a fine accessible pace.

Alice can provide lyrics and music or solfa but all the songs will be learned by ear so no technical knowledge is required! We are not aiming for perfectly trained performances - we want to have fun and bring our voices together just as they are.

We usually have between 9 - 12 singers and divide into three parts, predominantly female voices. We sometimes have a baritone or bass with us and welcome male voices too so we can cover a full SATB range

Don’t worry if you can’t commit to coming every week, you are still most welcome.

Come and give it a go - singing is good for the soul :)

In the school Easter break we run a Spring Sing challenge with half-an-hour of singing in the mornings. It’s a great way to start the day.

Sign up to the Bigton Collective online hub to keep up to date.

Performances

Although we don’t focus too much on performing we do enjoy sharing our songs with other people at various seasonal events!

One of our favourites is to team up with the lovely Sandyburn Singers. We usually sing in Bigton but have been known to venture as far as Cunningsburgh (!) where this clip was filmed at a fundraising event.

We also have fond memories of our collaboration with the Shanty Yell Men and sharing the stage with them and George Ewen.
