Our straw making group provides a fabulous opportunity to connect with other people, learn a new skill, create something beautiful and help conserve the tradition of coiled stitch basket weaving.

You don’t have to have any prior experience, just come along and someone will help you get started. You can bring your own project or simply come along for a chat and a cup of coffee!

This group gathers from 10am and overlaps with Friday Friends. Participants often find that once they get absorbed in straw work they want to keep going! People often stay on for lunch too.

Our straw makers sometimes link up with other weavers for events and workshops. if you’re not available on Fridays, keep an eye on our events feed for information about kishie making workshops at Hymhus in the winter.
